October in ESOL/READ 180

We had a great, but quick September. I hope you all had a wonderful September break.

In October, we are wrapping up this first nine weeks and moving into the 2nd nine weeks and conference week.

Kindergarten continues to work on letters and sounds, and we are now incorporating sight words through flash cards, play doh, and mini-books. Each child has a set of flashcards, based on the sight words they know in the classroom.

In 1st grade, we are finishing up main idea and details (you will see their pumpkin main idea books coming home today) and moving into 3 letter blends.

2nd graders are finishing up their narrative pieces. They have 2 more pieces to finish (a small moment from Fall break and a difficult decision they had to make) and then we will be moving into informative writing. We will research and write about things we know.

READ 180 is still in the reading portion of Workshop 4, all about bullies. We are having great discussions and working on answering in complete sentences and building our fluency.

I hope to see many of you during conference week. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at Jennifer.Carusone@cobbk12.org.
