English as a Second Language
In grades Kindergarten - 2nd grade, I use the standards to drive my instruction. I collaborate with the teachers in the grades to talk about academic progress and next steps for your children. Learning is differentiated based on the standards we are working on and what your child already knows or standards with which he or she needs more help.
READ 180 & System 44
READ 180 & System 44 are used to teach reading in grades 3-5. It involves a whole group lesson and then we have 3 rotations: software (children will work on skills that are differentiated for their needs), independent reading (books that are tied to these 2 programs and a comprehension quiz on the computer after they have read the book 3 times to work on fluency and comprehension), and small group (they will come to me to work on the skills of the whole group lesson).
